I was thinking R4 had some magical aspect.

What is the point of this post? Where did you get this circuit? I don't think this will work as an RGB buffer.

 

this was taken from a crt tv -the model escapes me at the moment where the fault was due to an oc inductor causing loss of one rgb signal at the scart socket due to a sc BC848 transistor i do have the manual on the pc somewhere
