RF Vibrator alert

I need a device that is small, (will fit in my pocket) Ideally the size of a thick pen or smaller. Basically it needs to have a flip top (not a deal breaker without flip top) with a button underneath that I can flip up the top and then press the button with my finger or thumb to send a wireless signal to another of these devices within 150' or less. At the other device it will then VIBRATE to alert the user that signal has been received.

I would like it sensitive enough to press for a short buzz or hold down for a long steady buzz until released.

The idea is for my nightclub security. Music is too loud for good communication and lighting confuses a flashlight alert. The buzzer fits in my pocket and when my other guard needs help he buzzes me with his device. Since we have posted sentries there is no need to communicate on WHERE to go. I just need the signal to vibrate from the control piece to the slave piece.

Is that possible? Does it already exist? If it does not does it sound difficult to build? Can anyone help me answer these questions so that I may begin to acquire something like this?

Hello Omegaman,

Years ago when dinosaurs roamed the earth, they had a device called a "pager".(smaller then most phones)
Get the staff to set a speed dial on there phones and it would be full proof.

You could use radio but..size and interference could be a problem w/ all the electronics that are packed in a club.

That is unless you really are intending to cheat at cards in Vegas, ever seen Casino w/ De Niro?

Im sure one of the radio guys here can help you out w/ something close to what you are looking for .

Me being a kludger, i would recommend modding a couple kids walkie talkies to vibrate when key'd.

But then they would be nowhere near as small as a thick pen :(

Anyhow, interesting project you got here, i will be watching this thread.

Yes, it is called a wireless door bell and you can buy it at most hardware stores for a low price especially when they have a clearance sale.

I 'd like to note that when I have my cell phone in my jeans side pocket, even if it vibrates I can't feel it, due to the music "vibes". I think it would only work if I held the device in my hand.
