RF prototyping using perspex

I have been looking for a RF prototyping system for a long time and recently found the dead bug idea which seems ideal. I wonder if anyone has used a modified Radionic kit of the 60s onwards for prototyping. It uses a perspex board drilled with 6BA holes in a 3/4" grid. The components are mounted on carriers which bolt down with brass strips of various lengths. Any views if this would work up to 30 MHz. I would like to try it using a design from RA Penfold's book "How to build advanced SW Receivers" (1977).
