I'm fixing a Perpetuum Ebner 2001 VH and I'd like to ask for your help. http://i.imgur.com/dDOc2iB.jpg http://i.imgur.com/WGSu5iz.jpg The following metal square was sitting inside the turntable secured to the plastic bottom and connect to the metal chassis by a wire. It feels like aluminum kitchen foil with a paper backing. Is it some sort of discharge plate? Since it's a bit damaged, what can I use as a replacement? Maybe a flattened section of Coke-Cola can? http://i.imgur.com/rg0FoDK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NhRvfwP.jpg http://i.imgur.com/gptiEOx.jpg http://i.imgur.com/spSPduC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hiWxdZY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/LYsTxhZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qQUKj6y.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZCSxxS6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/aGMqkgT.jpg http://i.imgur.com/bEnZa17.jpg http://i.imgur.com/fNEhuaM.jpg http://i.imgur.com/GnM2za6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qrlCxCG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7K2d08n.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HkVQsC4.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pH9xWiB.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XPsJq1X.jpg Thank you, Francisco

The metal foil is simply to reduce electrical interference from AC mains.
You can use cookie baking sheet or something that is sturdier that regular aluminum foil.
Some auto supply or hardware stores carry aluminum foil on an adhesive backing.

I give up, which picture has the picture of the part? I got lost inside a turntable somewhere...

Shielding keeps signals from getting in or getting out of electronic circuits as interference.

Thank you for your help. Could you please explain or point me towards an explanation on how it works?
Radiated electric and magnetic fields (like radio stations) do not travel easily through a sheet of metal and then jump into the air on the other side of the metal wall. Placing a thin metal wall around delicate signals will help keep away interference.
