OK, I have a track light with a 150W transformer. It keeps switching off, so I checked the bulbs. There are 5 of them, and they're all 50W (amazing that the thing worked fine for several years).

Now if I get a new transformer, would it solve the problem if I just got a 250 or 300W one?

A 250W should work but if you can provide more information for the old one to see what is going on it would be nice.
