Replacing a 180mah 3.7V Li-Po Battery to a 8600mah 18650 3.7V Li-Ion Battery on a GPS tracker

I have a GPS tracker where has a Built-In Battery of 180mah 3.7V Li-Po Battery. I wanted to prolong the operation time by replacing it to 18650 Li-ion Battery (3Pcs. in parallel connection) which has 2800mah ea. My Question is, is it safe? If not is there any other method? or other ways to protect the circuit?
