I feel crazy for asking this question but how exactly do you remove components from a tape and reel (talking about axial leaded devices)? I have tried just pulling them out which leaves a nasty coating of glue on the end of the leads. So how do you guys do this?

 

I snip them loose with dikes just above the tape. The leads are only slightly shortened.

Not a dumb question. Because you do not want that glue in your prototype board
