I am in the middle of building a remote controlled car, I am using a PIC16F690 and programming in C. I have the control of the motors sorted out now.

The only thing I have no idea about is how to make simple transmitter and receiver circuits so I can control the car with a remote.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but the remote will need to send 3 variable speed control signals and a pushbutton signal, so its not just a simple on/off signal.

Basically my question is, is it possible to make the circuits?
Or would it be beyond the ability of a hobbyist?

If so could you suggest the cheapest transmitter + receiver that would do the task I need it to?

I live in the UK, so would be best to get from UK places.
