I have a small winch that has no controls. It has two #10 posts.
I want to make a wired (30 foot) remote switch to control it. I plan to use two ford starter solenoids and a DPDT center off switch. Will this work? How do I wire it, or what is needed to accomplish my goal?
All help will be appreciated.

You really need two SPST relays (automotive type are relatively inexpensive and easy to get) and either a couple of momentary N.O. pushbuttons or a (MOM) OFF (MOM) SPDT switch. I recommend against using an ON-OFF-ON type for safety reasons.

The motor terminals get connected to the common terminals of the relays.
The NC relay terminals get connected to ground.
The NO relay terminals get connected to +12v.
Connect one side of each relay coil to +12v.
Use your switch(es) to ground the other side of the relays' coils.

This is the same circuit as the model house mover from 2 or 3 days ago. Replace the 3 position switch with 2 momentary pushbuttons, put a short where you remove the limit switches, and don't bother installing the MOVs.
