Hello All,
I have a quick question.
This is the requirement.
I need to control a low voltage circuit (5 Volts), with a 120 Volt input.
If the 120V circuit is closed, then it needs to close the 5V circuit too.
Do I do it with the relay ?
I have attached the picture along with to make my question clear.
The incoming 120V, should control the 5V circuit.
Any suggestions or ideas guys ?

It is the reverse.
I need to control 5V circuit with 120V.
If 120V is ON, then it should put on the 5V circuit.

 

aaaa..... why should you use a relay..... it makes no sense... how about using a step down transformer with a simple circuit bridge,capacitor,and 7805 regulator.....

if you will going to plug your 120vac the bulb will light-up....

Thanks for the reply.
I am not an electronics guy . I learnt electronics in school and that was it.
I am working on a project at work and I have this need and need to come up with a circuit.
I would really appreciate a ton if you can give me the circuit diagram for the above described solution.
Also, the solution should make sure, the 120V circuit does not burn the 5V circuit ( Do we use a fuse or something like that ?).

It needs to be a very robust circuit.
Appreciate the help man.
