Hi,
I am new to this forum and very green as far as electronics are concerned.
I need help or suggestions with respect to a new project. I have a basic underwater housing for my video camera. It has no capability to switch the cam on or off, and I would like to add this without drilling holes in the casing of the housing. I have approx 45mm of space at the back of the housing and my plan is to us a reed switch and a magnet connected to a solenoid to press the on/off button of the video cam inside the housing.
I need a small solenoid around 6 - 9v strong enough to press the button, and a reed switch that I can rig a magnet on the outside of the casing to activate it. The housing is 1/4" thick.
The array of reed switches and solenoids available is bewildering, can anyone suggest items that would be suitable for my project.
Many thanks,
Guyon
