Reading Metre Front/Rear Terminals through RS232

Hi,

I am trying to create some code (possibly Python or VB) to read a Keithley metre by switching between the front and rear terminals via RS232.

I believe that in GPIB you can only determine the position of the terminal buttons (you manually have to press the terminal button).

Does anybody have any RS232 experience to tell me if:

a) It is possible?
B) If so what commands can I use?
