Step down low voltage transformers are rated by input voltage, output voltage, and output current. The manufacturer may also list insulation resistance and things of that nature.
well the main thing is, I forgot about calculating current in short circuit test of a transformer.
I have my practical exams tomorrow.I remember of finding the maximum current through the primary and accordingly varying applied voltage using the autotransformer. But I forgot how I calculated the value of that current.
So i thought it may be given in the rating.
I have a typical xformer in front of me. One side has two smallish wires and says PRI 120 V 60 Hz. The other side has three larger wires and says SEC 1.2A 6.3-0-6.3
Sometimes, rather than giving you the secondary amperage outright it might give you the KVA of the secondary in which case you divide the power by the voltage at the secondary to get the maximum secondary current.
