Not an expert in electronics but can construct circuits.

I need a circuit that when a push switch is activated, 16 banks of five LEDs will illuminate in sequence for a period of approximately 10/15 seconds and then stop at a randomly selected bank on each occasion. Active push switch to restart sequence. If possible battery operated but not essential.

Appreciate any advice.

True random is a lot harder than you realize. One common trick is to have a push button and a very fast oscillator, so fast that you can't follow the LEDs. Where it stops becomes unpredictable, which may still not be random, but close.

Thanks for the info. Although both circuit would suit my needs I think the 37 LED roulette version would be easier for me to adapt.
Many thanks for your interest and advice
