I accidentally just connected vcc to pin 5 of the 555 (control), rather than pin 4
can anyone tell me from experience if this is gonna fry it?

 

It should be ok.

 

As per datasheet the control pin's (pin 5) maximum input voltage is same as Vcc,so it will be ok.

 

If you look it is a 5KΩ connection either way, if memory serves.

Vcc and Gnd backwards is a different proposition, and pain filled memory serves. It is also instantaneous.

I have the chip pretty well integrated into and bound up in a circuit, last night I went to test and realized my mistake, I wanted to get opinions on the probable result before trying to tear it out
