Questions about RF attenuators

Hi,

I've got some attenuators that serve to attenuate RF signal of GHz frequency.

Some of them don't have catalog number written on them.

How can I know how many dBs each attenuates?
Can I just measure the RF signal with and without them?

Also, how can I tell if they're bi-directional?

Thanks!

Sounds right to me - provided you have the requisite equipment. Are these 50Ω devices? What about their throughput power rating?

Hi,

Measure the loss both ways - if its the same then they probably are bi-directional.
