I didn't know if this is where this should go but...
If you add a line level converter to a factor 4 speaker deck, so you can run a sub, do you tap into the existing speaker lines? If so wouldn't that change the impedance of the output and potentially cause the head unit to put out more power than its rated for?
Or do these line level converters have really high impedance?
Or are you expected to disconnect a set of speakers?
