Hi everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a question I have.

Whi in data transmission over the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) data rates are so restricted?

Hello,

The datarate of analog modems is limited due to the bandwidth.
This only allows to use frequencies between 300 and 3000 hz.
Here is a linkpage of the EDUCYPEDIA on the subject.

HE HE! When I first moved to Fairbanks in 1976, I was on a FOUR PARTY LINE! Took me 6 months to even get that!

On the other hand....someone demonstrated recently that you could send Ethernet over barbed wire....now THAT"S my kind of engineering. :)
