Psp slim LCD help

I was disassembling my PSP to replace the back plate when I suddenly snapped the clasp for the thinner cable of the LCD screen. The cable that provides the light for the screen. When I slid the cable into the little slot (which doesn't have the clasp anymore), the light wouldn't go on. Now when id bend the cable at the tip, right before the slot the light would turn on but after I turned the light on this wsy, 4-5 attempts later it no longer worked. what should I do? Buy a new LCD or just give up and buy another PSP?
