I have a halogen pole lamp that just went out. I suspect the switch (with dimmer).
How do I disassemble unit to get to switch?
What do I look for on switch? (Burnt wire , etc.)
Is the switch common hardware store item?

I replaced the bulb (no finger prints) and it blew when I turned unit on.

what kind of halogen lamp is it? extra low voltage or mains? Are you useing a dimmer switch or a normal light switch? what sort of light fitting does the lamp fit in to?
