Can I power two op amps with the same power supply source?

 

Yes, you can.

Also if you have a chip with two op amps build into it, they share power and ground so you only need two wires instead of four wires you would use with two chips that contain one op amp each.

Nothing to be sorry about. It is part of learning. There is a Russian saying: measure 7 times, cut 1 time. Meaning do some planning before you start actually doing "stuff".

On the other hand. Let us say that you need one op amp to work at 5 volts and second op amp to work at 10 volts. Then you would actually want two separate chips.

Bottom line, and probably the most important point: you work with what you have in your hands! Which means that if you have two chips, you use two chips. Like I said above, nothing wrong with it.

A capacitor near IC pin power "never hurts".
