Hi all

I just got my colpitts oscillator to oscillate at my desired frequency. My supervisor asked me to figure out its 'Power requirements'. Im unsure as to what he really meant by that.

How do I calculate or measure my circuit power requirement?

Any useful links or even a good book suggestion would really help me!

The power requirement is the amount of watts your circuit consumes during operation. Power is energy per unit time, such as watts (joules per second), horsepower, Btu/hr, etc.

You could measure your circuit power by measuring its average current draw with a given supply voltage. You could simulate it in SPICE (e.g., LTspice) and use that simulation tool to estimate power consumption.
