Hi guys, I found a transistor which is named as “8050” (no any letter in front of the number) however in market, this transistor is not available and the available one is S8050!!! Please tell me whether S8050 is similar to the 8050… is it possible to come a transistor with only a number ?

Yes the 8050 (NPN) and 8550(PNP) are standards.

There are S, SS, And a few others, but the HFE and such are equal.

Just be sure to mark the pin outs. They change from manufacturer to manufacturer.

hi retched;

thanks for replying ! bad transistor is 8550 and the ping arrangement is -E-C-B- , however the S8550 comes as -E-B-C-. so tell me is it ok to replace the bad one with the above one (S8550), after shifting the -B-C- pin position?
