You omit to say what experience in electronics (and particularly PLCs) you have, if any.

A good place to start would be the PLC Programming Wikibook: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Introductory_PLC_Programming

Can you embellsh on what sorts of applications you are looking at?

I'm taking a PLC class this semester, it's only 2 hours a week for 16 weeks and after the first day I already know how to program in most of the basic logic functions. Try a local community college if you want to get the full experience with it(be sure it's a good one that actually has a good amount of PLCs).

hey guys some good plc simulators are there ..with that you can learn yourself ..logixpro is a simulator for allen bradley..AB is plc manufacturer ..you can download it Free PLC programming Software
