Plane of polarisation and plane of vibration

Dear Revered Members,
This discussion pertains to Polarisation. Please find attached image of my textbook. It says Plane of Polarisation does not contain vibrations in it. But the dotted area EFGH is given as plane of polarisation, in which i could find the double arrow symbol in it, which i presume as vibrations. Then how the definition of " Plane of Polarisation does not contain vibrations in it" holds true . Please help me in this regard. Thanks in advance.

When I look at that diagram, I see the double-ended arrows in the plane of vibration, not in the plane of polarization. If they were in the plane of polarization they would be shown slanted and parallel to the line G-F
