Hi all,

I hope you can spare a minute and tell me what package this capacitor is?

It came in a kit, so I have no idea myself.

It has a value of 100nF, and the wide distance between legs is 5mm and the narrow gap is about 2mm - perhaps 2.5mm.

Thankyou very much,

Sparky

I would just call it a radial cap with 5mm raster. I doubt caps have any special package names except for radial/diagonal distinction. Of course big electrolytes have names like snap-in etc. but that doesn´t apply here.

It's a poly-film 0.1μF/100nF capacitor, in many cases, they are pretty good compared to ceramic.

There really isn't any package other than "Tape and Reel" for those type of components, as the size changes with value. It's not standardized like Surface Mount is.

Reason is, I'm creating some on eagle, and I'd like to make sure I get the right size for the pcb (OCD and that...).

It's giving me option like C2.5-3 and C5B4.5.

Perhaps these numbers mean something?

2.5-3mm between leads

4.5mm between leads, etc.

Measure the distance between the leads at the tape for the number, or narrower if you need to squeeze it in and it's a one off.

For caps I typically use from the RCL library the C050-025X075, sometimes smaller if I need more space around. The description of the part should tell you what each number means :)
0207/7 and 0204V are my standard through-hole resistors.
