overvoltage protection circuit

If you are using crowbar or zener diode overvoltage protection you need to consider what is providing the input voltage.
A crowbar circuit for example usually becomes a short at whatever its voltage setpoint is.
Can you tolerate a short or high current draw on your input voltage source.??
You probably should have a current limiting resistor for example.
