overhead distribution transformer(oil immersed)

1.when overloading exists, is there a possibility that it could cause a fire due to overloading or overcurrent? does the distribution transformer explode when it existed or theres a specific time/formula of time to be able for the DT to explode or break..

2.what are the different overloading protection devices existed and widely used in the present?

Fires and explosions are possible but unlikely. Protection devices and preventative measures would normally prevent this unless there are flaws or damage in the epuipment. More and more equipment is built with the ability to self test and phone home for a service call long before it would fail.
