I was wondering how the "output type" of an optocoupler affects the build of a circuit. I'm currently looking into purchasing a few optocouplers and noticed that the main two are transistor output and logic output. If you could lend any insight into this, it would be much appreciated!

The application will have a lot to do with the selection of the device.

 

Hmm... I definitely understand what you're talking about. I'm curious how the output type will affect the application.

Do you know whether transistor output differs from logic output in speed? I have a hunch that speed is the big difference between the two.

 

That gets down to individual spec sheets, or a parametric search.
