How can I tell the difference between an inverter and an op amp when looking a schematic when the are both triagle images?

An op amp had two inputs, where an inverter has one input and an inversion bubble on it's output.

It it's possible that the schematic shows a single input, triangular device. this could be either a buffer or an amplifier, though a buffer is, in fact, an amplifier with a gain of 1, but depending on whether it is digital or analog will determine it's implementation.
