If you are going to program the inverse of the S-H equation into the PIC then all you need is a single resistor to a well-regulated voltage. The resistor and the thermistor form a voltage divider, and the center node goes to the PIC A/D input.

However, that will not give the best results over a medium or wide temperature range. The thermistor response curve is so non-linear that it is difficult to get accurate readings at high temperatures with an 8 or 10 bit A/D. An external linearizing circuit will reduce the overall accuracy somewhat because of component tolerances, but the high end resolvability will improve.
