I am replacing a BF459 NPN transistor and can not find a replacement.
Mouser says OBSOLETE
Any clues where to cross ref?

You might use an MJE340.
Same package, same voltage rating, but 5x the collector current and 20w vs 1.2w.
It'll plug right in.

An NTE157 is a replacement for the ST-BF459. However, you'll pay a lot more for it. Might as well try a better part.

Thanks, I went to NTE.com for a cross ref. the ordered from Mouser.
Mouser's LIVE ONLINE HELP was NO help at all.
My guess is I only wanted 4pc.

I've also been looking for replacement parts for several obsolete components and I've had to plow through hundreds of data sheets to find similar items. Bertus and SgtWookie, do you have access to a site or data base where a person can find direct (or close enough) replacement parts without all the hassle?

This transistor is rather alike BF469 and BF471 which I possibly have in my drawers. What is for? It is not equivalent with MJE340 which is much slower.
