Hi everyone - I'm a real beginner with electronics but have been reading up and practising soldering on simple led circuits.
I have a project I want to do but not too sure what I need. I have some equipment I want to run from a 12v battery but some of it is quite sensitive and needs a regulated supply. As the battery output can vary quite a bit from 12v, I am looking to build a simple regulator circuit I can wire in between the battery and the equipment. I am aware of IC voltage regulators but not sure how to select the right one. As well as clean 12v, I will need at least 5A current available for peak loads.
I want also to have the battery permanently on trickle charge and need to understand if I will need to isolate or switch the incoming charging current from the outgoing supply?
I'm sure this is probably all very simple to you all but not to me at the moment!
