I am a newbie to using stepper motors. I have to help my prof build a needle testing equipment. I have a (http://www.applied-motion.com/products/stepper-motors/ht17-075) nema 17 stepper motor which is attached to a linear actuator(http://compare.ebay.com/like/170752124310?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar) something similar to this with a potentiometer feedback, pretty old products. I have to use a 3540i stepper drive (http://www.applied-motion.com/products/stepper-drives/3540i) to control the motor which takes inputs from labview. I have been trying to find some tutorial on how to make connections between the computer and the drive. If anyone has ever had some experience using these equipment, please help.

I am working on a different project but with the exact same equipment. I was curious if you determined how to use the magnetic reed switch? I have the linear actuator working but I can't figure out how to utilize the reed switches. Thanks
