I see how this works now. Found it difficult to conceive of improving a signal by increasing its impedance while using no more current than the original signal. Mostly because I did not have a clue about how small the signal voltage was in the first place.

As I stated above, I ordered all of the electrolytics since they are 33 yrs old! They'll be here Wednesday and they'll go in the same day. More then .....

 

FYI, you can buy a new one for less than it will cost to shotgun out all the parts in the old one.

No, moving magnet and moving coil are different. They are both "magnetic" but the latter have a miniscule signal output and require an added pre amp stage.
