Need help on how to generate +12 and -6V from a single +24V power supply

Hi,

I have to supply power for an incremental encoder that requires +12 V ( 350 mA) and -6 V. I would like to have just one single +24 V power supply. I am planning to use Dc-DC convertes and I was wondering if anyone can recommend one and I also would like to know if they generate a lot of noise or not.

Thanks,

Jorge

I try to avoid switchers around analog circuitry. The encoder outputs are digital, so it likely wont care. Getting +12V at 350mA from +24V is going to make >4W of heat if using a linear regulator, so you will likely need a buck converter. This app note shows how to make both positive and negative converters.
