I'm a newbie. I need help designing a circuit to run an underwater rov. I want the thrusters to run on 12vdc(thats as far as ive gotten to the motor parts). I want to reverse these thrusters without having to use two batteries and reversing the wires. How can I do this? I really need a schematic. I've never done this before. everything ive ever done used relays. I want to try ic circuitry now.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Can be done with integrated circuits that contain 'H' drivers from many vendors, depends on the chosen motor current and more. Here is one of many: http://www.rohm.com/products/lsi/motor/h_bridge/databook.html
The motor(s) can be extracted from bilge pumps,
Seems to me like instructables and makemagazine should fit well into your timing...

Dig deeper into those sites, do not stay only in the links above; do not drool too much, your keyboard can fail.

Thanks,

I have another question tho. Ive seen alot of controllers now that use the l298 h bridge chip. Can you use that chip with manual operation or does it have to be used with a microcontroller such as a pic to run it. I'm hoping i can put power to one input and one motor turn cw and the next input the motor turns ccw. Is this possible. Please help. Thanks

I have seen schematics of those rovs. Here is what I do to see all about rovs. I use Google. At the top of the screen far left where you have a choice of webs, images, videos and so on, choose images. now type this in the search bar "underwater rov" then look at the pics and choose the one you want. Then click on the link next to the pic that will take you to the site that has the info.
