A friend of mind has a "Great Invention" that requires some simple electronics. I volunteered to help, but now I feel as though I'm in over my head. I know what I need is relatively simple, but I just can't figure it out on my own.

I just need to make wireless tx/rx units as SMALL as possible, (Just by getting the smallest available parts) The data transfer is only 1 bit (Just need to turn on an LED from a distance of about 30-40 feet)

So, in essence, I want a small transmitter that will turn on an led attached to a small reciever. I thought that I could salvage the parts out of a 27 Mhz remote control toy, but they are surprisingly complicated little beasties. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

That looks like a great site! Thanks for the help. I'm sure I'll still need help with the circuit design though, as I'm still new to this.

It's a module. Just add your own circuitry.
