I need help selecting some parts.

I have a project that has two boxes. I need to connect 15 wires between them over a short distance. The lines are one 5V DCC, one GND, and 13 5V logic channels, all <30ma. I want to buy two terminals (mounted on each box that will ultimately go to a PCB) and a compact cable. I'm trying to avoid something like a ribbon cable. Any parts/connection solution suggestions?

I'm also looking for extremely bright narrow beam 5V 5mm LED's. Let me know if you have a favorite.

For those interested, I need to run the live connections (instead of sending the data serially) because I'm using the projects for some timing experiments. I need the displays on the two boxes to be within a microsecond of each other. I'll use the logic channels to directly drive a display on the second box.

DB-15. Cheap, rugged and you can buy the cables off the shelf. Solder-cup versions for prototypes, right angle PCB connectors for the boards when you get them.

Select from something like these at Mouser.
