Hi guys, I'm studying for an exam on Thursday and I've found something I'm unsure on:

An embedded system is a smaller scale system with a dedicated function or task within a larger scale system, right?.

So.. Within a PC, is the PC an embedded system or are the video cards, sound card etc that make the PC the embedded systems?.

Thanks.

It is a somewhat nebulous idea, but I've always thought of an embedded system to be a system with a processor that operates autonomously. So, a processor based alarm system would be an embedded system, but a computer would not. However, a video card might be thought of as an embedded system.
