I recently bought 2 Murata NMH1205SC DC/DC converter units. Without any external components, applying 12 volts to pin 1 and 0 volts to pin 2 ; I read -7.5 volts at pin 4, 0 volts at pin 5 and +7.5 volts at pin 6 instead of +5v/-5v. ( They are 7 pin SIP). What am I doing wrong ?

Try putting a load, maybe 10% max. power, on the output terminals and see if the desired voltage is at the output. Sometimes these devices don't operate within specification without any load on it.
