Hi Everyone
I have 2 questions dealing with Mom's T.V.
1-My mother has a Sanyo T.V. that for a few years she loved having on top of her big refrigerator (to her the perfect spot) lately its been giving her trouble. The symptoms are
--No picture (screen is black) and sound is static
--The screen will display the various menu bars and it's controls
--You can control the sound and choose channels (also displayed)
--She has cable hooked up
My first question is this a repairable problem ?
2-If heat is an issue - is anything on the market, or that can be made at home - that she can put between the T.V. and refrigerator to protect the T.V. ?

I really appreciate your time and knowledge......Thanks Everyone

Since the set is working (meny display, sound), have you verified that the cable is working? Both in the sense that other tv's work, and that the coax to the set on the reefer is still ok.

I dont think heat is an issue probably the vibration is.
If you have a good signal imput, you may have what is called loss of video and audio. A cold solder is possible since I think the problem is in the tuner section of the TV. Have you tried the video inputs? I think they may work.
The menus can from the characters generator with is independent of the video signal.

Hook up a VCR or DVD to it and see if it works. That would be a simple test set to confirm whether it's cable or the set.
