This circuit is switching 30 Volts AC with an input from a pic controller and has been working for years. I would like to know if the MOC3010 can be replaced with an MOC3042. the only difference i see is the

3042
OPTICALLY COUPLED BILATERAL
SWITCH LIGHT ACTIVATED ZERO
VOLTAGE CROSSING TRIAC

and the 3010
OPTICALLY COUPLED BILATERAL
SWITCH NON-ZERO CROSSING
TRIAC

I am not sure if this will effect the circuit. and help would be appreciated.

Hello,

That depends on what you are doing.
If you are trying to dimm the AC voltage, the 3042 will not work.
If you are only switching the AC on and off , the 3042 will work.
