Back in the 1970's and early 80's we had the First Saturday Sale, mostly Ham related. It morphed into a computer event, and was huge during the 90's. Nowdays it is shrinking, though worth going to.

Ham Con in Arlington (a neighboring city between Ft. Worth and Dallas) in June used to be huge too, but has shrunk considerably.

Most unusual item I've seen? A complete radar system, 1950's vintage.

The most unusual item I have seen at the MIT swap are the Enigma machines.
The fellow that displays them takes a summer vacation in Germany each year and
tries to track down parts.

He didn't have any displayed yesterday but he was still setting up when I
walked by.
