Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of variable resistor or what ever R7 is in this schematic. Also what kind of button is he using? I was thinking momentary-on buttons but I'm not 100% sure.

R7 is probably a 4K7 trimpot. Or at least that is the siymbol he has used. The switches are all momentry push buttons.

Before the OP gets gray hair looking, the standard value for trimpots is 5K, not 4K7.

 

I was just stating that the symbol used (be it correct or not) is for a trim pot. The 4K7 is right next to it. If it was a normal pot its wiper would have an arrow.
