what is the objective for studying the microprocessor?

are you required to understand the underlying architecture? or are you required to learn how to write a program for the microprocessor?

A good 8086 assembly book usually has some info on how the processor works.
You should pick one up prett cheap as they are well out of date.
I used to have one but cant remeber who it was by.

Thank you for your advice. I am already referring Microprocessors and Microcontrollers by A.P Ghodse and D.A Ghodse. It will be more helpful if you could suggest me some website where I can equip myself with practical knowledge. Any website which has video lectures about it will also be useful.
