Hi,

I need to identify character's with a camera. For example, if I hover the camera over an image that contains a character my MCU must be able to identify the character in the image for further processing.

The camera may be a black and white camera and I am only identifying letters or numbers for the prototype.

For a demonstration, I will have a large single letter or number on a sheet of paper and my mcu must be able to identify the character.

I have one of these SD card readers (http://www.gravitech.us/sdcaad.html) if I need to access it to store some images.

Do any of you know of a camera, mcu, or even similar projects that I can research to achieve this project? Any advice would be of great use.

Look at openCV, it's the go to library for image processing...You will need a fairly fast processor...
