Hi!
I have read thoroughly first two chapters about AC and ask: what is the sense of introducing the polarity for an AC?
Is it made for completing the tasks like in http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_2/chpt_2/8.html, when reversing one source?

Edit: I mean, if we are not going to reverse neither of sources in future, so, does it mean that then we shouldn't use these confusing polarity markings, right?!

It's a convention in which a negative sign equates to a 180° electrical phase shift relative to other sources or some assumed or implied reference phase.
