Hey all,

I'd like to control the brightness of about 30 LED's individually (10 RGB leds). So I've decided I'd like to have this done by a microcontroller which receives colour/intensity information from a UART line.

I'm wondering if you guys know of any microcontrollers that have an excessive number of PWM channels with at least 8-bit resolution. I was considering just using a 28-pin PIC or ATMEL and just replicating PWM in software, but the first LEDs to be set would always be slightly brighter than the last ones.

I'm looking for doing this with the least number of chips, but if I have to use two or three uControllers that's not a huge issue.
