Hello
I am an electrician and was thinking if it is possible to make such a device.
Not an RCD tripper. I would need a device that would draw alot of current for a short period of time. I understand how it could be done with a resistor but then we are talking about a LARGE 10kw resistor maybe.
Would love to hear ideas this would help me out at work alot as oppose of tripping the cicuits one by one until the correct one is found. especially when power is vital
Thank you

The load is not that big problem, as the 10,16 or 20A breakers should trip quite fast. The problem is the contactor used to switch it on, it can´t be some wimpy relay or manual switch if you want to use it more than once. Also you should add some high amp - slow blow ceramic fuse in case all goes wrong and nothing trips, preferably some of the knife kind used as main house fuses.
